What are we all playing this weekend?

Bit miffed this week. I bought a new electric toothbrush and it oscillates so fast it does that thing where my whole mouth feels unbearably itchy. Blech. Balancing this experience against the existence of hundreds of thousands of videogames to play, and I reckon the universe comes out of it with a roughly neutral standing.

Anyway. As much as I know you all love hearing about my current oral situation; here’s what we’re all playing this weekend!

I have Clair Obscur FOMO, since everyone is raving about it. So if I get a little time, I may finally dip into that. But I also have to help somebody move house, which is basically Tetris.

It’s been a busy few weeks for me, encompassing a house clearout and prep for my PhD viva (which I have now passed – whoop). This is my first clear weekend in a while, so the plan is basically to get into bed with every means of entertainment available. In particular, I’m hoping to try the Dune Awakening beta and play a bit of sci-fantasy 4X Zephon.

I fancy giving Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 a go, so I will. I’m betting it won’t work for me but it is very pretty, and that’ll be enough for an hour or two.

James
I’m still playing Haste, or Haste: Broken Worlds, it’s a bit unclear about which. S’good, though – I regret I’ve been too tangled up in Steam Deck accessories and Doom testing to write about it properly.

Jeremy
I’ll be in Greece for the next few days, on what will hopefully be a much needed sunny holiday with my wife after several months of working hard and house-buying stress. (It’s supposed to rain on several days when we’re there, though. Alas, sometimes ya just can’t win.) Anyway, I guess it’s as good a time as any for me to fire up Hades and Hades II on the Steam Deck, right? If I can’t beat those games while hanging out in Crete, then I’ll never be able to beat ’em.

Nic
I am going to play Doom Eternal to wash the still pretty ok taste of The Dark Ages out of my mouth.

Ollie
I’ve finally found the time to start playing Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and yes, it has its hooks in me. Just inject Charlie Cox’s dulcet tones right into my bloodstream, please. In fact, inject everything else about the game while you’re at it. The piano- and cello-heavy score, the parries, the front-loading of all the moral quandries that comes with such a bizarre apocalyptic premise… So far, it’s all exactly what I’d hoped it would be.

But you, reader dear, what are you playing this weekend?…
