The B850 Pro RS is a triple killer!

While we’ve heard less about them recently, the problems associated with ASRock’s Ryzen 9000 CPU-killing motherboards haven’t stopped. Indeed, one Korean user reports having seen three Ryzen 7 9700X processors die on his B850 Pro RS. More after the double kill of Ryzen 7 9800X3D on X870E Pro RS.

A B850 Pro RS: triple kill!

So, on the QuasarZone forum, we learn that user OnOr has seen three Ryzen 9000 processors die on his B850 Pro RS motherboard. Initially, two of these processors were purchased on Aliexpress. Following the death of this second CPU, he decided to send his motherboard to Compuzone for inspection, where it was found to be working correctly. Seeking to prove that the problem was indeed with the board, he ordered a third CPU from an authorized distributor, only to see it die in the same way as the previous two.

From this point of view, one might be tempted to speak of an out-of-date bios, and yet… This is not the case. In fact, the card in question was running with the latest bios, the famous 3.40, which was supposed to correct these problems… You can see the result. What’s more, OnOr states that it used its processor with the default settings. Here, no overclocking or EXPO profile was used.

Unfortunately, this is a problem whose cause seems elusive, since even GamersNexus couldn’t find its origin, and despite hours and hours of research with different configurations, nothing conclusive… Just a rise in standby voltage, but enough to burn out a processor.

The result… Three CPUs out of order, for a total value of $880. Yes, it hurts, especially when you consider that AMD and ASRock are passing the buck. The Reds claiming that their CPUs have no manufacturing or design problems, and ASRock claiming that their motherboards work normally… But they’re releasing bios MAJs just for fun
